The HM8 Mark 2, the newest addition to the automotive-inspired illustrious lineage of luxury watchmakers MB&F has already begun captivating the interests of the horology and automotive enthusiasts alike. With its splendid craftsmanship and daring design, this opulent timepiece is pushing boundaries and setting new benchmarks for innovation and luxury in the realm of luxury watches.
This automotive inspiration of MB&F traces back to the long-standing vision of the founder Maxmilian Büsser, a lifelong car enthusiast who as a result of his unflinching fascination for supercars which boasted sleek forms and aerodynamic lines. This childhood dream of the founder then went on to transition into the company’s core vision since the year 2012, when the company first came into existence. Over a decade later in 2023, the MB&F went on to unveil their futuristic HM8 Mark 2, a magnificent timepiece which boasts supreme mechanical ingenuity amalgamated with a cutting-edge design inspired from supercars.

The success of the 2023 editions have now paved way for their 2024 limited edition. Featured in a CarbonMacrolon® and a grade 5 titanium case, this timepiece spans an impressive 47 x 41.5 x 19 mm in dimensions. This, unlike their predecessors which boasted only green or white body panels, is now encased in an additional brand-new luxurious car paint-inspired bodywork toned in glossy sapphire blue. Within this comes a sophisticated horological engine powered by the mighty Girard-Perregaux movement which constitutes a robust and efficient automatic rotor guilded in 22k gold, offering a power reserve of 42 hours. The rotor further comprises an MB&F-exclusive jumping hour and trailing minutes module which is also an in-house development of the brand.

One striking feature that sets the design of this elegant timepiece is the presence of double-curved sapphire crystals protected by layers of anti-reflective coating on either side. This intrinsic construction adds to the depth and dimension of the timepiece by simultaneously making it 30 to 40 times more expensive than its much inferior and commonly-used dome sapphire counterpart. The functionality of this timepiece is further enhanced with a premium crown equipped with the “double de clutch” which maintains the sleek appeal of the timepiece by also keeping its accurate functionality in check.
Every other minute detail of the watch, including their side displays have all been fascinatingly inspired from speedometers of cars, reminiscing futuristics designs from the 1970s. This has always been the trend observed in each one of its iterations from the HM5 to the HMX and all the way through to the latest HM8 models.

To honour the exclusivity of this horological masterpiece which combines sophisticated engineering with sheer elegance, the MB&F is determined to limit its production to just 33 units. This transforms the timepiece into an entity beyond luxury, a rare privilege only reserved for the discerning few. This deems the HM8 Mark 2 as a supreme entity, an absolute symbol of glowing passion and scintillating innovation with a hint of automotive grandeur, setting itself a class apart from its rivals in haute horlogerie.
