Tom Parker Bowles, the son of Queen Camilla, is set to release a royal cookbook this autumn. Titled “Cooking and the Crown: Royal Recipes from Queen Victoria to King Charles III,” the book features over 100 recipes spanning from breakfasts to state banquets, accompanied by tales of royal chefs and kitchens.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the project, Parker Bowles stated – As a food history enthusiast, he has been thoroughly captivated by the process of writing this book. Exploring original recipes from the royal archive at Windsor has allowed him to delve into the lives and culinary preferences of monarchs from Queen Victoria onwards. However, this isn’t about extravagant dishes like roast cygnet or ortolans stuffed with foie gras. Instead, it’s a collection of recipes that he personally enjoys cooking, and he hopes readers will too.”
Although Parker Bowles is well-known for his culinary expertise, with previous works including a cookbook for Fortnum & Mason, this marks his first foray into the royal domain in book form. In 2022, he delved into the subject of royal kitchens ahead of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, and during the release of his book, “Time for Tea,” he engaged in discussions regarding the British tea tradition.
Reflecting on the significance of tea in British culture, he remarked, “There is tea as a drink, tea as a meal, tea as etiquette. It is one of the few meals that you can say is wholly British”
